A customer in Cebu, Philippines, approached Dongji House for a custom self-service car wash building that could serve four vehicles at the same time. The available site measured 11 × 7.8 m, so the design had to make full use of the 85.8 sqm (923.54 sq ft) footprint while still providing a comfortable waiting area and a separate control room.

Instead of constructing the entire building on site, we developed a container car wash using six prefabricated modules. The proposal is currently awaiting the customer's final confirmation.

Project Overview

Six Modules, Four Open Car Wash Bays

The entire modular car wash building is assembled from six units. Four modules form the washing area, while the remaining two are used for the customer lounge and control room.

To create four open bays, the facing wall panels between the wash modules are removed. Each bay can accommodate one vehicle, allowing four customers to wash their cars at the same time. This arrangement gives the operator more capacity without requiring a large conventional commercial building.

The factory floor system is also removed from the washing area. The customer will construct a concrete floor locally, making it easier to plan the drainage channels, waterproofing, equipment foundations, and wet-area finishes around the selected car wash system.

How Is the Structure Stabilized Without Internal Walls and Floors?

Removing wall panels and factory floorboards creates the open space required for vehicle access, but the connected structure must still remain secure after installation.

Our solution uses specially designed base connectors at the bottom corner fittings. These connectors are anchored to the concrete foundation with expansion bolts. The adjoining modules are also bolted together along their internal connection points, helping the six units work as one connected structure.

This anchoring method improves the overall stability of the building and helps reduce movement during strong winds. Final foundation dimensions, bolt specifications, drainage work, and anchoring details should still be checked against the actual site conditions and local building requirements in Cebu.

An 11-Meter Glass Facade for Natural Daylight

One full 11 m side of the building uses a double-glazed tempered glass curtain wall. The 5+9+5 mm glass specification improves the commercial appearance while allowing daylight to reach deep into the four wash bays.

Better natural lighting can reduce the need for artificial lighting during daytime operation. Customers can also see the wash area from outside, giving the prefabricated car wash a brighter, cleaner, and more professional storefront.

Black aluminum framing was selected to match the black steel structure and wall panels, creating a consistent exterior rather than making the glass facade look like a separate addition.

Customer Lounge and Control Room

A car wash is not only about the vehicle bays. Drivers may arrive with family members, friends, or colleagues who need somewhere comfortable to wait.

For this reason, one module is arranged as an enclosed customer lounge. The room next to it is used as a control room, where the operator can place a control console, mechanical components, or other equipment required for daily operation.

Dongji House supplies the container house structure only. The washing machines, control equipment, water treatment system, electrical system, and other specialized car wash equipment will be purchased and installed by the customer according to local requirements.

A Storefront Panel Ready for Custom Signage

The front elevation includes a dedicated fascia panel for the car wash name or company logo. The customer can use standard lettering or install illuminated signage so that the business remains visible after dark.

This simple detail helps turn a functional self-service car wash building into a recognizable commercial location. The size, color, and lighting style of the sign can be coordinated with the customer's local brand.
