Recently, a client from France visited the Dongji House factory to discuss a new custom mobile home project. The visit allowed both sides to communicate face-to-face about house dimensions, interior finishing, transportation and potential applications in the French market.
The client already has an established customer base in France and has observed growing local interest in compact mobile houses. Compared with conventional construction, these houses can be produced more efficiently and used for a wide range of residential, commercial and tourism-related purposes.

Two Mobile House Sizes for the French Market
During the meeting, the client initially proposed two house sizes:
The client has an experienced construction team in France, so completing the installation locally would not be a problem. However, the preferred solution is to complete as much of the construction and interior finishing as possible at the Dongji House factory.
A fully finished mobile home involves many different materials and installation procedures, including:
Completing these works in the factory can improve quality control and reduce the amount of complicated finishing work required after the houses arrive in France.
The exact layout, materials and technical specifications are still being discussed. The insulation material has also not yet been finalized. Dongji House can provide different options, including EPS, rock wool and PIR sandwich panels, depending on the client’s budget, local climate and insulation requirements.
Why Was the House Width Changed from 2.5 to 2.3 Metres?
One of the most important subjects discussed during the factory visit was the width of the mobile houses.
The client originally preferred a width of 2.5 metres. However, if a completed house is going to be transported inside a standard 40HQ shipping container, its external width must be carefully controlled.
The internal width of a standard shipping container is approximately 2.35 metres. A 2.5-metre-wide completed house cannot be loaded directly into an ordinary 40HQ container.
For this reason, Dongji House recommended reducing the external width to no more than approximately 2.3 metres. The client accepted this recommendation.
The additional clearance makes loading and unloading more practical and reduces the risk of the exterior walls being damaged during transportation. Final loading feasibility must still be checked according to the complete house dimensions, trailer chassis, overall height and actual shipping arrangement.
If a customer requires a house wider than the standard container limit, Dongji House can also discuss alternative solutions, such as a detachable structure, on-site assembly or special transportation. However, these options may affect the installation method and shipping cost.
A Complete Mobile Home with Kitchen, Bathroom and Bedroom
This project is not limited to supplying an empty steel structure. The client is considering a turnkey mobile home with all the main living facilities included.
The proposed interior will include:
The internal layout can be adjusted according to whether the house is intended for private living, short-term rental or tourism accommodation.
Factory prefabrication also allows the client to inspect materials, finishes and construction details before shipment. During the visit, the client was able to examine our production facilities and discuss the proposed solution directly with the Dongji House team.
Can the House Be Supplied with a Wheeled Trailer Chassis?
Yes. Dongji House can provide a wheeled trailer chassis for this type of mobile house.
A suitable chassis allows the house to be moved when required and offers greater flexibility compared with a permanently fixed building. The chassis design must be matched with the house dimensions, total weight, intended use and local transportation requirements.
Because road regulations differ between countries, customers should confirm local registration, towing and road-use requirements before using the house as a road-going trailer. For customers who only need to move the house within private land, a campsite or a tourism project, the technical requirements may be different.
Customers can contact Dongji House to request reference pictures and discuss available mobile chassis solutions.
More Than Just a Small Home
Although these units can be used as compact residential houses, their potential applications are much broader. Depending on the layout and interior configuration, they can be used as:
For tourism operators and rental businesses, a compact turnkey mobile home can provide a practical way to add accommodation without relying entirely on traditional on-site construction.
The 6-metre model is suitable for projects where space and transportation efficiency are priorities. The 9-metre model provides more room for separating the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living area.
Can Dongji House Ship Mobile Homes to Countries Other Than France?
Yes. Dongji House supplies prefabricated and mobile house solutions to customers in different international markets.
Shipping can generally be arranged to ports in many countries and regions, subject to local import regulations, transportation conditions and project specifications. Before production, our team evaluates the house dimensions, packaging method, loading plan and destination requirements.
For fully finished houses, transportation planning is especially important because the completed unit must remain within the limits of the selected shipping method. This is why decisions such as reducing the width from 2.5 metres to approximately 2.3 metres should be made during the early design stage.
The Project Is Still Under Discussion
The French mobile home project is currently in the planning and technical discussion stage. The two sides are continuing to evaluate the interior layout, insulation materials, trailer chassis and detailed configuration.
The client’s factory visit helped both sides identify important practical issues before confirming the final design—particularly the relationship between comfortable interior space, factory finishing and international transportation.
Dongji House will continue working with the client to develop a mobile house solution suited to the French market.
